Dr. Leo Matsumoto’s passion is helping people achieve better health through chiropractic care, fitness, and nutrition. He was first introduced to chiropractic after throwing out his back while lifting weights. During his own treatment, he realized that exercise and nutrition alone weren’t enough to achieve lasting health — and that the root cause of most injuries and conditions comes from a combination of physical, chemical, mental, and emotional stressors on the body. This insight led him to pursue his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree at the University of Western States in Portland, OR.

Dr. Leo was born and raised in Japan and moved to Honolulu, HI as a teenager, where he grew up playing a variety of sports. He later moved to the Pacific Northwest for college, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oregon State University — but his love of health and fitness led him to a long career as a personal trainer instead.

He holds a postgraduate designation as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP) from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP), which certifies specialists in the evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries. He is also a certified Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist (FRCms), and holds NASM certifications as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). He is currently working toward his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) designation through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

In his spare time, Dr. Leo enjoys functional training, Olympic and power lifting, running, and swimming. He also volunteers as medical staff for local sporting events, including AVP and the US Open. Outside of fitness, he treasures time with his wife, two beautiful daughters, and the rest of his family — including their dog, Arya.

Dr. Leo lives by a quote from his hero, Bruce Lee:
